Népal 3ème jour: éléphants et rhinos au Parc National de Chitwan

Le matin, on va faire le safari éléphant dans la forêt de Chitwan.

In the morning, we go for the elephant safari in the Chitwan forest.

Pas très confortable mais très excitant de découvrir la forêt ainsi!

Not very comfortable but an exciting discovery experience!

Le parc a beaucoup d'animaux sauvages. Les daims tachetés courent un peu partout, ainsi que singes, oiseaux, paons...

The park has many wild animals. The spotted deers can be easily seen, as well as birds, monkeys, peacocks...

Après une heure de recherche, enfin, on trouve un rhinocéros à une corne! Il y en a 500 dans le parc.
Il n'a pas l'air content d'être dérangé, alors quelques photos et on s'en va vite.
Il paraît qu'il y a aussi une centaine de tigres de Bengale, mais ils se cachent bien.

After searching for 1 hr, we finally find a one-horned rhino. There are 500 of them in the park.
Doesn't seem happy to be disturbed, so some pictures, and we leave quickly.
The park also has a hundred Bengali tigers, but they seldom show up.

Ensuite, descente de la rivière en barque.

Then, cruise on the river in a wodden boat.

Les crocodiles nous regardent de la berge. 
Heureusement, on ne les intéresse pas trop.

Fortunately, we don't seem to be of interest to them.

Népal 1er et 2ème jour: Kathmandu à Chitwan

On revient de vacances au Népal.
Le 1er jour s'est en fait passé dans l'avion: Taipei - HK - brève escale à Dhaka (Bangladesh) - Kathmandu!
On est arrivés vers minuit à l'hôtel, dans les vaps.

We have just come back from a trip to Nepal.
The 1st day actually was spent in planes: Taipei - HK - brief stop at Dhaka (Bangladesh) - Kathmandu!
We arrived very sleepy at the hotel around midnight.

Au petit matin, on découvre ce très beau Gokarna Hotel, situé dans une forêt.

At the early morning, we discover this beautiful Gokarna Hotel, located in a forest.

Les chambres sont très grandes, simplement décorées mais belles.

Rooms are very spacious, simply decorated but very nice.

Le parc abrite de nombreux arbres centenaires, dont ce caoutchouc géant qui servit de décor au film "Little Buddha" de Bertolucci, comme explique une pancarte.

The park hosts many hundred years old trees, like this huge Ficus Elastica which was filmed in Bertolucci's "Little Buddha", as explained a sign.

Le parc a aussi des animaux, comme cet adorable petit Bambi.

The park also has animals, such as this super cute spotted deer.

Ou ces singes qui se réchauffent dans la fraîcheur du petit matin.

Or monkeys warming each other in the coolness of the early morning.

Le parc a même un petit temple Hindu, avec des gardiens fort sympathiques.
Bref, un hôtel très spécial!

The park even has a small Hindu temple, with very friendly keepers.
In brief, a very special hotel!

On prend ensuite l'avion pour le Parc National de Chitwan.
30min en avion, qui aurait pris 7-8 heures en bus!

We then fly to the Chitwan National Park.
A 30min flight that would have taken 7-8 hrs by bus!

Ah! Notre première vue de la chaîne de l'Himalaya!

Ah! Our first view of the Himalayas!

Arrivés à Chitwan, on commence par une visite en chariot à boeufs des villages Tharu.

Once in Chitwan, we start by a ox-carriage tour of Tharu villages.

Les Tharus sont la principale tribu du coin. Leurs maisons sont en paille et boue, avec de toutes petites fenêtres pour se prévenir des serpents.
Ils sont plutôt pauvres. Espérons que le tourisme améliorera leur condition de vie.

The Tharus are the major tribe of the region. Their houses are in straw and mud, with tiny windows to guard from snakes.
They are quite poor. Tourism hopefully will help improve their lives.

La journée s'achève par un coucher de soleil sur la rivière.

The day ends with a sunset by the river.

Rando à la montagne 合歡北峰 3422m

Enfin un week-end ensoleillé!
On en profite pour grimper de nouveau 合歡北峰 3422m par la route 14.
Il fait froid, quelques degrés à peine.
Pas beaucoup de monde à cause du froid. Tant mieux pour nous!

Finally a sunny week-end!
We go climb 合歡北峰 3422m again by route 14.
It is cold, only a few degrees.
Not many people due to the cold. Perfect!

9AM: au départ de la rando.

Bientôt, on voit le panneau de radar et des montagnes célèbres au loin.

Soon, we can see the radar panel and famed mountains in the far.

Voilà, le sommet est le plus haut point au fond.
Un bonheur d'admirer le paysage en silence!
La dernière fois fut une cacophonie!

The summit is the highest point in the far.
Such a pleasure to enjoy the beautiful scenery in silence!
Last time was so crowded!

10:10AM: au sommet! 
On y rencontre même un chien, très en forme, se délectant du soleil.

We can even find a dog, very healthy, enjoying sunbath.

On re-descend, avec le chien, qui a apparemment décidé de finir sa promenade avec nous.
Il connaît bien la route!

We go down, with the dog, who apparently decided to end his stroll with us.
He knows his way very well!

Chien insouciant qui s'amuse beaucoup à attraper je ne sais quoi.

Worry-free dog who enjoys a lot catching something.

Pour changer, on fait un détour au panneau de radar.
Le sol est toujours jonché de morceaux de glace par endroits.

For a change, we go to the radar panel.

Rando à 東卯山 1690m (Taïwan)

Aujourd'hui, il fait enfin beau après 2 semaines de pluie.
On va de nouveau grimper 東卯山 1690m pour s'entraîner en vue d'une grande rando à venir. Ce qui explique le gros sac à dos!
8AM: on part du temple 谷關大道院.

Today is finally sunny after 2 weeks of rain. We again go climb 東卯山 1690m as a training for a coming big hike. Which explains the heavy load backpack!
8AM: we start from the temple 谷關大道院.

8:20AM: 1km plus tard, la vraie rando commence.
6.5km à faire.

8:20AM: 1km later, we come to the true trailhead.
6.5km hike.

Les couleurs automne-hiver sont magnifiques aujourd'hui!

11:40AM: gros rochers et panneau de telecommunication, on arrive enfin au sommet!
On est plus lents avec 18kg sur le dos.

Rando à la montagne 加里山 2220m (蓬萊登山口上9號下4號, Taïwan)

Aujourd'hui, on a encore été grimper la montagne 加里山 2220m, mais par une autre route qui part de 蓬萊.
Il faut grimper 850m en hauteur.

Today, we again climbed the mountain 加里山 2220m, but by a new route starting from 蓬萊.
Climb up 850m.

7:30AM: on commence la rando.
Il fait frais à 15 deg!

8:10AM: on arrive à la borne No 14 (voir 1ère photo).
2km jusqu'au sommet.
La vraie grimpe commence.

2km to the summit.
The real climb starts here.

Cette route moins fréquentée se passe dans la forêt de pins.
Les cris au loin des petits daims de montagne nous accompagnent.

This less-traveled trail takes place in the pine forest.
The small barking deers 山羌 keep calling each other in the distance.

9:10AM: on arrive à la borne No 9, par la gauche.
Dernière grimpe vers le sommet.

Last climb to the summit.

Un beau spécimen rare de Taiwan yew 紅豆杉.
Probablement millénaire.

A rare giant specimen of Taiwan yew 紅豆杉. 
Probably thousand-years old.

9:45AM: au sommet, dans la brume et le vent, alors qu'il fait beau en bas!
Quel temps capricieux.

11:10AM: on re-descend par une autre route et nous voici à la borne No 4, où se trouve un grand refuge.

11:10AM: we go down by another trail, and here we are at the marker #4, with a big shelter.

De là, on retourne au point de départ de la rando via la route du vieux chemin de fer (3km).

From there, we go back to the trailhead via the old railways trail (3km).

12:10PM: chose faite!
Juste à temps pour le déjeuner!
Superbe soleil ici, à 23 deg, pour finir cette belle rando.
