Montagne 八仙山 2366m & grand canyon 大安溪大峽谷 (Taïwan)

On rentre de 2 jours de rando.
1er sommet: la montagne des 8 fées (八仙山 2366m).
7 heures aller-retour pour grimper 1400m sur 6km.
Pas beaucoup de monde à cause du mauvais temps.

We have just come back from a 2 days-hike.
1st summit: mountain of 8 fairies (八仙山 2366m).
7 hrs round trip to ascend 1400m on a 6km trail.
Few people because of the bad weather.

9:30AM: la rando commence doucement.
La plupart des touristes n'iront pas plus loin.

9:30AM: the hike starts gently. This is the farest most tourists would go.

Nous, on continue, dans le brouillard et le froid.
On ne rencontrera que 4 autres randonneurs ce jour-là. Des dingos comme nous.
Parfois, on ne voit quasiment rien devant soi. Pas très rassurant mais aussi très beau.

We continue, in the fog and cold.
Besides us, only 4 other climbers on this day. Crazy people like us.
Visibility is almost zero sometimes. Quite scaring but also beautiful.

4.5K: les derniers 1.5km sont terribles!
Les marches n'en finissent pas de grimper!

4.5K: the last 1.5km are killing us.
Never ending stairs climbing climbing!

5K: les vestiges d'un transport à câble, du temps où l'on exploitait les arbres de cette forêt.

5K: remains of a cable transportation system, when logging was business in this forest.

2:30PM: enfin, le sommet à 6K.
Il fait froid. Quelques photos et il faut re-descendre, pour éviter de marcher dans la nuit!

2:30PM: finally, we reach the top at 6K.
It is cold. Some pictures and we have to go down, to avoid still being in the forest after dark.

Le lendemain, après une nuit pluvieuse à KuKuan, on laisse tomber le 2ème sommet et on rentre.
Au passage, on va visiter une version mini du "grand canyon".

On 2nd day, after a rainy night at Kukuan (谷關), we give up the 2nd summit and go home.
On the way, we go visit a mini-version of the "grand canyon" (大安溪大峽谷).

Voilà le "grand canyon", élargi après le grand séisme du 21 Septembre 1999.

Here is the "grand canyon", enlarged after the big earthquake of 21th September 1999.

Le sol est argileux-sableux, donc instable. Il est interdit de s'approcher des bords.
 
The soil is of clay and sand, so unstable. It is forbidden to get near the cliffs.
