Cachemire-Ladakh: Palais royal de Leh, 3500m (Inde)

 

On est arrivés à Leh 3500m, la plus grande ville du Ladakh, avec 30000 habitants, à majorité Bouddhistes.

Derrière moi est la seule mosquée de Leh, et tout en haut à droite sur une colline est l'ancien palais royal qu'on va visiter.

We have arrived in Leh 3500m, the largest city of Ladakh, with 30000 inhabitants, mainly Buddhists.

Behind me is the only mosque of Leh, and at the right top on a hill, is the ancient royal palace of Leh.

Le Palais de Leh à 9 étages fut construit au 17ème siècle, et est l'ancienne demeure de la dynastie royale Namgyal, détrônée au 19ème siècle.

Les descendants sont toujours à Leh et habitent au palais de Stok maintenant.

The 9-storey Leh Palace was built in the 17th century and is the former living place of the Namgyal royal dynasty, dethroned in the 19th century.

The descendants are still in Leh but now live at the Stok Palace.

C'est un musée maintenant avec statues, thangkas, etc...

On a une superbe vue de la ville de Leh.

Tout tout au fond, on peut voir la chaîne de l'Himalaya.

In the very far background, we can spot the Himalayas.

Partout, on peut acheter des trucs en laine plus ou moins de qualité, au grand plaisir des Taïwanaises reines du shopping.

Everywhere, locals sell wool clothing of various quality.

The Taiwanese girls are of course more than happy to oblige.
