Cachemire-Ladakh: Sonamarg 2730m, balade en poney jusqu'au glacier de Thajiwas 2799m (Inde)

 

Sonamarg, une autre station de ski à 80km nord-est de Srinagar.

Il pleuvait hélas quand on est arrivés.

Sonamarg 2730m, another ski station 80km northeast of Srinagar.

It was raining unfortunately when we got there.

Qu'importe le mauvais temps frigorifique, on va tous faire la promenade en poney jusqu'au glacier de Thajiwas. Il faut 45min, c'est très possible à pied aussi. 

C'est parti!

Never mind the freezing rain, we all go to the Thajiwas glacier. A 45min pony ride, very feasible on foot too.

Off we go!

Le paysage est époustouflant. 

Les poneys connaissent bien le chemin mais pas facile de prendre des photos!

Une promenade à pied serait mieux en fait.

The scenery is breathtaking. 

The ponys know the trail very well but not so easy to take pictures!

I'd rather walk on foot actually.

Voilà, on arrive.

Il caille, mais on oublie tout devant la beauté du paysage.

It is freezing but doesn't matter since the scenery is so beautiful.

On ne se croirait presque pas en Inde.

We almost forget we are in India.

Et oui, encore des soldats partout! Pour protéger les touristes sans doute, après l'attaque terroriste en Avril par un groupe musulman qui a fait 26 morts dans la région.

Again, soldiers everywhere! To protect tourists probably, after the April terrorist attack by a Muslim group that caused 26 deaths in the area.

Le lendemain matin, surprise, tout est couvert de neige!

The next morning, surprise, white snow everywhere!

Magnifique!  Sauf que nos chauffeurs se cassent la tête car la route vers Kargil est maintenant bloquée. On ne peut que attendre que les chasse-neiges fassent leur boulot.

Beautiful!  Except that our drivers are having headaches since the road to Kargil is now closed. We can only wait for snowplows to do their job.

Les poneys ont l'air très habitués.

The ponys seem quite unfazed.

Les chiens errants aussi.

Et oui, ils sont partout.

So are the stray dogs. They are everywhere.

On a même reperé des chiots qui nous espionnent de loin. Trop mignons.

We also spotted puppies spying on us.

Too cute.

Vers midi, on peut enfin prendre la route.

122km jusqu'à Kargil.

By noon, finally, green light to hit the road.

122km to Kargil.

Tout le monde conduit très vite, on se croirait aux 24heures du Mans.

On mettra 4 heures.

Everybody seems like racing.

4 hrs to get to Kargil.

Au col de Zojila 3580m.

At Zojila pass 3580m.

On commence à voir des bases militaires. Il y en aura de plus en plus à mesure qu'on entre au Ladakh, où des disputes territoriales existent avec le Pakistan ou la Chine.
