Rando à 火炎山 602m (Taïwan)

Aujourd'hui, on a été grimper 火炎山 (602m) au centre de Taïwan.
C'est la montagne aux  flancs dénudés si particuliers qu'on peut voir sur l'autoroute 1 vers 155km.
Mot à mot, son nom est "montagne en feu" à cause de son sable rouge.

Today, we hiked 火炎山 (60m) in central Taiwan.
This is the mountain with bare sandy flanks at 155km on Highway 1.
It is called the "mountain on fire" because of its red sand.

La rando fait 3.3km jusqu'au sommet.
Pas très difficile.

The hike is 3.3km long till the summit.
Not a very difficult hike.

8AM: on commence à grimper.
Le sol est un mélange de sable rouge et gros galets ronds.

8AM: we start climbing.
The soil is a mixture of sand and big pebble stones.

La route suit la crête avec précipice d'un côté. Vaut mieux donc ne pas s'attarder trop longtemps vu que le sol est plutôt instable.

The trail  follows the ridge with a cliff on one side. Better not stay too long there as the soil is rather unstable.

Vue vers le Sud de l'autoroute 1 et de la rivière 大安溪.
Hélas, le ciel est plutôt pollué aujourd'hui.

Unfortunately, the sky is rather polluted today.

On commence à voir les flancs si particuliers de cette montagne, qui s'érodent d'année en année.

We start seeing the so special flanks of this mountain, eroding year after year.

Quelques arbres entêtés s'y accrochent tant bien que mal.

Some stubborn trees still grow there the best they can.

On se croirait presque dans le désert.

Looks like a desert scenery.

Un sol pas très solide évidemment.

On continue.

We keep climbing.

9AM: à 2K,  on a une belle vue d'un "canyon".
L'accès y est interdit.

9AM: at 2K, we have a very nice view of a "canyon". Access is forbidden, I think.

On continue sur la crête. Par endroits, c'est plutôt étroit mais rien de dangeureux.

We continue on  the ridge.
Sometimes, the trail gets narrow but nothing dangerous.

Parfois, ça grimpe pas mal aussi!

La descente est plus rapide, 1 heure environ, par une autre route.
Très ennuyeuse aussi.
Rando sympa. On refera ça un jour de non-pollution!


Descent is faster, around 1 hr, by another trail.
Quite boring too.
Nice hike, to re-do on a day without air pollution!
