Rando 新康下瓦拉米, 7ème et dernier jour: sortie par 玉里 (Taïwan)

5AM: on part tôt aujourd'hui.
13.6km à faire et 8-9 heures de voiture de Hualien à Hsinchu.

5AM: we start early.
13.6km to go to trailhead + 8-9hrs drive from Hualien back to Hsinchu.

Encore un panneau d'ours tout mignon.

La route est longue mais facile, prisée des randonneurs du dimanche.

The trail is long but easy, enjoyed by occasional hikers.

Rando 新康下瓦拉米, 6ème jour: 瓦拉米山屋 (Taïwan)

7AM: prête à partir.
Le Français Damien est déjà parti à 5heures vers le nord pour 大分.

7AM: ready to go.
The French guy Damien left already at 5AM heading north to 大分.

14.2km à faire aujourd'hui jusqu'au prochain chalet à 1060m.

14.2km to go today till next lodge at 1060m high.

7:30AM: un ancien poste de police de l'époque Jap.

7:30AM: a police outpost of the Japanese period.

Un pan de mur plutôt bien preservé.

A stone wall pretty well preserved.

Ici, c'est l'habitacle des ours Taïwanais, donc ils font office de mascotte très mignonne.

Here is the home of Taiwanese bears, so they are used as very cute mascots.

Un panneau nous prévient qu'on est en territoire d'ours mais les chances d'en rencontrer un sont minimes. Heureusement.

A sign reminds us we are in Bear land but there is almost no chance to meet one actually. Fortunately.

Le pont a été détruit par des typhons.
Quelqu'un a bricolé une échelle bien pratique.

There used to be a bridge but destroyed by typhoons.
Somebody built a very useful makeshift ladder.

2PM: ça y est. On arrive au chalet.

2PM: here we come to Walami cabin, at 1060m.

Ce chalet est très fréquenté et sera plein ce soir. Très bruyant aussi...
Ce seront les premiers autres humains qu'on verra après une semaine là-haut!

This cabin is very popular and will be full tonight. Very noisy too...
At last, we are going to meet other humans after one week up there!

Rando 新康下瓦拉米, 5ème jour: 抱崖山屋, 1620m (Taïwan)

7AM: on démonte les tentes.
On rentre.
On va descendre 1300m en altitude aujourd'hui.

7AM: we take down the tents.
Going home.
Today, we will descend 1300m in altitude.

On descend.

Going down.

10:45AM: finalement, on rejoint la route forestière, section Est de 八通關古道.
Encore 2.2km et on arrive au chalet de ce soir.

Another 2.2km and we will come to the lodge of tonight.

La section Est de 八通關古道 est jalonnée d'anciens postes de police de l'occupation Japonaise, comme 抱崖. 

East section of 八通關古道 has many police outposts of the old Japanese rule, like 抱崖.

On va prendre l'eau et se laver à la rivière tout près.

We go for water and a good bath at the nearby river.

Quel bonheur de voir autant d'eau!

Tout le monde saute carrément dans la rivière.

So happy to enjoy so much water!

Everyone jumped in the river.

Et surprise, arrive un Français (Damien) qui randonnait seul (pas recommendé). 
Le 1er humain qu'on aura vu depuis 6 jours.

Surprise, here comes a French guy (Damien) who hiked alone (not recommended).
The 1st human we have met for 6 days.

Rando 新康下瓦拉米, 4ème jour: 新康山 3331m (Taïwan)

5AM: on part tôt aujourd'hui car dure journée en perspective.
Beaucoup de dénivelés et on doit chacun porter l'eau des 2 jours prochains (6 litres).

5AM: we start early today because hike is expected to be tough.
Steep climbs besides with 6 liters of water in backpack for the 2 coming days.

18kg à porter en tout avec les 6 litres d'eau.

Climbing non-stop during hours.

9AM: enfin, on arrive au campement de 新仙山營地, 3100m, notre gîte pour ce soir. Pas d'eau malheureusement.
On a fait 26km déjà depuis le 1er jour.

9AM: finally, we come to the camping site of 新仙山營地, at 3100m, home for tonight.
No water unfortunately.
We have hiked 26km since the first day.

10AM: on part vers la montagne 新康山, à "seulement" 1.6km, mais un 1.6km éreintant.
La route est tout sauf plate.

10AM: we head to the summit 新康山, only 1.6km away, but an exhausting 1.6km.
The trail is all but flat.

300m et on y sera!
Soupirs soupirs...

A last climb over 300m and we will get there!

12PM: ça y est, à 新康山 3331m.
Sa réputation n'est pas surfaite.
Mon 78ème sommet.

On voit la ville de Yuli 玉里 au loin, notre point de sortie au 7ème jour, dans la célèbre vallée de 花東縱谷 sur la côte Est.

We can see the town of Yuli 玉里, our exit destination on the 7th day, in the famous valley of 花東縱谷 on the East coast.

Retour au camp.

Rando 新康下瓦拉米, 3ème jour: 桃源營地 (Taïwan)

7AM: on part.
On approche de 新康山.

7AM: go.
Coming near to 新康山.

On peut voir les grands sommets du coin, comme à gauche, la montagne de Jade 玉山.

We can spot all the famous nearby summits, like Jade Mountain.

Ca monte et ça descend sans arrêt.

The trail constantly goes up and down.

1PM: on arrive au campement 桃源營地, vers 2700m. 

1PM: we come to the camping site 桃源營地, at 2700m high.

Juste assez grand pour monter 2-3 tentes.
Il faut descendre 15min sur la gauche pour aller chercher de l'eau.

Just big enough for 2-3 tents.
We have to go down 15min to the left to get water.

Juste des petits filets d'eau sur les parois.
Il ne faut pas être pressé... Heureusement, on a le temps aujourd'hui.

Water is collected through some tiny streams on cliffs.
Not to be in a hurry... But we have time today.
