Rando à la montagne de jade, 3ème jour (玉山群峰, Taïwan)

Aujourd'hui, on va faire les sommets du sud.
On part à 5AM.
6AM: on a fait 0.8K, encore 1.6K jusqu'au sommet de 東小南 3744m.
Temps toujours aussi pourri.


Today, we will climb the southern summits.
We start at 5AM.
6AM: 0.8K done, still 1.6K till the peak of 東小南 3744m.
Such a bad weather still.

On ne voit pas grand chose.

No scenery along the way.

6:40AM: au croisement dit des 4 directions, menant vers 3 sommets.
東小南山 est vers la gauche, encore 0.9K.

La rando se poursuit souvent sur la crête.

On revient au croisement, pour aller cette fois vers la droite au sommet Sud (南峰 3844m).
Seulement 0.2K de route, de l'escalade de roches.

We come back to the crossroad, this time heading to the right to South peak (南峰 3844m).
Just 0.2K to go, of rock climbing.

Fini pour cette fois. On rentre demain.

5AM: aujourd'hui, on va faire les sommets principal, Est, et Nord.

5AM: today, we go climb Main peak, East, and North.

On retourne donc vers le chalet de Paiyun.
Le temps ne s'annonce pas clément...

So, we go down towards PaiYun Lodge.
Weather does not look good...

A droite, c'est le chemin pour le sommet Nord.

7AM: au sommet principal (玉山主峰 3952m).
Temps pourri et visibilité nulle.
Quand il fait beau, la vue est magnifique. Oui ben, pas cette fois...

Scenery is beautiful in clear days, but not today...

Tant pis pour les sommets Est et Nord, on retourne au chalet.

We give up East and North summits and go back to the lodge.

Rando à la montagne de jade, 1er jour (玉山群峰, Taïwan)

Cette semaine, on a été à la chaîne de Montagne de jade, qui comprend beaucoup de sommets, dont bien sûr le pic principal de 3952m. Le plus haut sommet de Taïwan.
Une destination rando très très demandée.

This week, we went to Jade mountain chain, which includes many summits, including of course the main peak, at 3952m, the highest in Taiwan.
A very much popular destination.

8AM: au départ de la piste.
On doit faire 10.7km aujourd'hui pour aller au chalet de YuanFung (圓峰山屋).

8AM: at the trailhead.
We should hike 10.7km today to reach YuanFung Cabin (圓峰山屋).

Pas très difficile, la piste monte doucement, pour une élévation de 800m.

Not so hard, the trail ascending gently over an elevation of 800m.

11:30AM: au grand précipice, un énorme pan de pierre.

12:50PM: au chalet de PaiYun (排雲山莊, 3402m).
Un chalet "5 étoiles" de 100 lits toujours plein, à cause des agences de rando commerciales.
Les candidats pour le pic principal, à 2.4km d'ici, ne manquent pas, donc tout le business qui va avec.

A "5 stars" lodge of 100 beds which is always full, due to the commercial hiking agencies catering to the many hikers coming here only for the main peak, 2.4km away.
Very lucrative business.

Nous, on va au chalet de YuanFung (圓峰山屋), 2.2km plus loin.
1:45PM: ici, on est au croisement entre le pic principal (vers la gauche) et notre chalet.

As for us, we go to the lodge of YuanFung (圓峰山屋), 2.2km away.
1:45PM: here, at the crossroad of main peak (to the left) and our lodge.

On monte encore 200m sur une piste de graviers.

We climb up 200m more on a gravel trail.

2PM: on peut voir le chalet de PaiYun en bas.

2PM: we can see PaiYun Lodge further down.

2:45PM: on arrive enfin au chalet. Le brouillard est déjà là. 
On se perd facilement dans ces endroits par mauvais temps et faible visibilité.

2:45PM: we finally come to the lodge, in the fog already.
Quite easy to get lost here, when visibility is low.

Petit chalet de 20 places, à 3640m.
La nuit, il fera 5 degrés seulement.

Small cabin for 20 people only, at 3640m high.
At night, temperature drops to 5 deg C.

Ce n'est pas le 5 étoiles du chalet de PaiYun mais déjà un luxe aux normes de haute montagne.
Au moins, c'est calme.

Not a 5 stars lodge but already so comfy in high mountain standards.
And very quiet.
