Rando à 五指山 (1062m, 北補, Taiwan)

Hier, on a été   à 五指山, pas loin de chez nous.
五指山 veut dire "la montagne aux 5 doigts", car c'est à quoi elle ressemble.

Yesterday, we went hiking 五指山, not far from our home.
五指山 means "the mountain with 5 fingers", because that is what it looks like.

8AM: on part du temple  觀音寺.

C'est parti.

Here we go.

La piste est bien (trop) entretenue, avec escalier et tout.

The trail is (too) well maintained, with stairs, etc...

Tous les 100m sont balisés par une statue de singe.

Every 100m are marked by a monkey statue.

9AM: ça grimpe pas mal quand même.
On arrive  au lieu dit  一線天, grosso modo "fente dans le ciel".

9AM: the trail is quite steep actually.
We come to the place called 一線天, which roughly means "slit in the sky".

Parce qu'il y a un passage étroit entre deux grandes roches.
Très joli.

Because of the narrow passage between two big rocks.
Very nice.

On voit et on entend la musique des temples tout en bas.

We can see and hear the music coming from the temples underneath.

10:20AM: on arrive au sommet du pouce.

On continue sur la crête, le long des doigts si l'on peut dire.
Donc ça monte et ça descend.

We continue along the ridge of the 5 fingers.
So up and down.

10:50AM: au sommet du  majeur. Le plus haut à 1062m.

Il y a quelques bâtiments au sommet,   des stations de transmission de radios locales.

Some buildings can be found there, kind of local radio transmission stations.

Il ne faut pas faire cette montagne en été, c'est infesté de moustiques.

One should not hike this mountain in summer, it is swarming with mosquitos.

11:20AM: au sommet de l'annulaire.

On voit JuDong 竹東 en bas.

JuDong lies underneath.

11:30AM: au sommet de l'auriculaire.
Il faut maintenant faire le chemin inverse jusqu'au pouce.

Now, round trip back to the thumb.

Ouf, il faut regrimper la pente jusqu'à l'annulaire. Pas commode.

Need to climb back to the ring finger. Long slope.

12:30AM: retour au pouce!

12:30PM: back to the thumb!

1:20PM: on descend par une autre route jusqu'au temple de bambou.
La plupart des gens montent par là en fait.

1:20PM: we follow a trail down to the bamboo temple.
Most hikers actually come up from here.

De là, on rejoint les temples qu'on voyait de là-haut.
Et encore 30min par la grande route, et on retourne au point de départ, le temple  觀音寺.

Then, we come to the temples that we saw from above on the trail.
From here, we walk 30min on the paved road and back to the departure point, the temple 觀音寺.

Les petites gardiennes

Certaines maisons Chinoises ont des statues de lion à l'entrée.  Nous, on a ça!

Some Chinese houses have lion statues at the entrance. We have these!

Visite de Kuala Lumpur (吉隆坡, Malaisie)

Après Malacca, direction Kuala Lumpur, la capitale, et plus précisement, Putrajaya, une ville montée de toutes pièces pour remplacer KL comme centre administratif national en 1999.
Ici, c'est le Perdana  Putra, les bureaux du nouveau Premier Ministre, Mr Mahathir, le vieux monsieur de 93 ans.

After Malacca, direction Kuala Lumpur, or more precisely, Putrajaya, a city planned from scratch to replace KL as federal administrative center in 1999.
Here is Perdana Putra, offices of  the new 93 year-old Prime Minister, Mr Mahathir.

La ville est super moderne, comme ce pont.

The city is super modern, like this bridge.

La nouvelle ville bien sûr se doit d'avoir aussi une mosquée, donc la mosquée rose, construite en 1997.

The new city of course must have a mosque too, hence the pink mosque, built in 1997.

Pour visiter une mosquée, les femmes doivent être voilées et couvertes.
Heureusement, ils prêtent l'habit en question, mais on crève de chaud ainsi habillée!

To visit a mosque, women must be veiled and all wrapped up. 
Fortunately, we can borrow the cloth at the entrance, but wearing this is so hot!

Un, deux, trois, c'est parti! L'invasion des petits chaperons rouges!

Et hop, on se bouscule pour les photos.
Heureusement que les visites sont  interdites aux heures de prière, 5 par jour quand même chez les Musulmans.

Fortunately, visits are forbidden during praying hours, 5 times per day for Muslims.

Ensuite, on va au centre-ville.
Voici les très célèbres et très belles tours Petronas.

Then, we go to downtown KL. 
Here are the iconic Petronas twin towers. Very nice design.

Les tours abritent l'orchestre Philarmonique de Malaise par exemple, mais aussi les centres commerciaux, déjà à l'ambiance Noël. Surprenant pour un pays Musulman, mais globalisation oblige.

Inside the towers, we can find the Philarmonic Orchestra of Malaysia but also malls, already on Christmas tones.
A little surprising for a Muslim country but globalization rules...

Surprise, un petit orchestre sympa de cuivres et cornemuse qui joue des airs  Britanniques classiques.

Nice surprise, a small orchestra of brass and bagpipes is playing famous British songs. 

Si on ne fait pas attention aux femmes Malaisiennes voilées, on se croirait en Angleterre.

Had we not spotted the veiled Malaysian women, we would have thought we were in England.

Les tours Petronas avec ses 88 étages sont de la vieille histoire maintenant. La pimpante tour 106 va bientot être en service!

The Petronas twin towers are old history now, with 88 floors only.
The brand new Tower 106 is going to be open soon.

Ah mais, la nouvelle tour PNB 118 est déjà en construction.
La course des gratte-ciels ne finira jamais.

But the new PNB 118 tower is already under construction.
The skycrapper race is never going to end.

Notre Banyan Tree hôtel est lui-même un gratte-ciel tout neuf.
Au 53ème étage, on a une très belle vue de KL.

Our Banyan Tree hotel is also a new skycrapper.
On the 53rd floor, we have a beautiful view of KL.

Très belle vue aussi au 58ème étage pour le petit déjeuner.

Very nice view too when having breakfast on the 58th floor.

Sans oublier la piscine avec vue sur les tours Petronas.

Let's not forget the swimming-pool with view over the Petronas towers.

Mais la frénésie des gratte-ciels menace aussi les anciens bâtiments. Espérons que KL puisse trouver un compromis.

But the frantic growth of skycrappers is also seriously threatening the older constructions.
Hope KL can find a peaceful balance.

Ce serait bien dommage que ces petits restos disparaissent par exemple.

It would be a pity if these small restaurants disappear for example.

Apétissant, non?

Pour finir, on va aux caves de Batu, près de KL. 
Les marches ont été re-peintes cette année, pour égayer le temple hindou dédié au Dieu Managan.
C'est sûr que les Hindous ou Malaisiens adorent les couleurs vives.

Last place we go is the Batu caves near KL.
The stair steps  were re-painted this year to rejuvenate the Hindu temple of God Managan.
Hindus and Malaysians love vivid colours, that's for sure.

Allez, on grimpe ces quelques 200 marches!

Let's climb these 200 something steps.

Les caves de pierre calcaire sont impressionnantes quand même.

The limestone caves are impressive.

Les singes du temple piquent volontiers des trucs aux touristes.
Ils sont bien acceptés ici car ce sont des demi-dieux pour les Hindous.

Monkeys at the temple gladly snatch things from tourists.
They are well accepted here as they are semi-gods for the Hindus.
