Rando 北二段: 5ème et dernier jour (Taïwan)

6:30AM: on range nos affaires et on rentre!

6:30AM: we pack and prepare to go home!

On remonte la rivière jusqu'à la forêt tout en haut.

We go upstream till the forest.

9:30AM: on aura grimpé 600m en hauteur pour revenir à la borne 17.5K du premier jour.
Le plus dur est fini!

9:30AM: we climb 600m height to come back to the 17.5K milestone of the first day.
The toughest is done.

11:30AM: on refait la route forestière 730 jusqu'à 11.7K, et la rando est finie!

11:30AM: we follow the 730 forestry trail till 11.7K, and the hike is all over! 

Rando 北二段: 4ème jour (Taïwan)

5:30AM: on commence la rando.
Dure journée aussi aujourd'hui.

5:30AM: we start early. 
A tough day today too.

Cette pauvre chienne très affamée et perdue (?) nous suit dès le 1er jour.
Elle fera aussi toute la rando, y compris passer les falaises toute seule. Chapeau!

This poor very hungry and lost(?) dog is following us since the 1st day.
She will also hike with us, even cross the cliffs by herself. Awesome!

Et heureusement, elle a trouvé un nouveau maître en ce porteur de la tribu des Bununs (布農族), avec 30-50kg sur le dos! Wouah!

She now has happily found a new master, this porter of the Bunun tribe, who can carry 30-50kg! Wouah!

On descend les falaises de 鬼門關斷崖 = falaises de la Porte des fantômes sur 300m.
Un nom terrifiant mais pas si difficile en fait.
En mauvais temps, cela  serait une toute autre histoire.

We climb down the cliffs of 鬼門關斷崖 = cliffs of the Ghost Gate over 300m. 
Scary name but not so difficult actually.
Much tougher in bad weather however.

On descend toujours.

Keep descending.

Voilà, finie la 2ème partie.

Ouf, Cliff est soulagé!

Last part and we are done with Ghost Gate!
Cliff is so relieved.

Cette dernière falaise de 10m est impressionnante quand même à descendre.

This last 10m high cliff looks quite impressive after all for a descent.

8:30AM: on arrive à la bifurcation pour le sommet de 甘薯峰 3158m.

8:30AM: we come to the crossroad to the summit of 甘薯峰 3158m.

On y va!
La route descend puis remonte comme un V.

11AM: enfin au top.
Mon 66ème sommet de 3000m!
Le monsieur avec la pancarte vient de finir son 100ème sommet ici!

Retour à la bifurcation, déjeuner, puis on descend 1200m jusqu'à la rivière.
Dur dur pour les pieds!
5PM: on y arrive enfin!

Back to the crossroad, lunch, then go down 1200m to the river.
My feet hurt!
5PM: finally to the river.

Il faut traverser la rivière à 3 reprises jusqu'au campement.
J'ai horreur de ça. Glacial et glissant.

Need to cross the river at 3 locations to reach the camping site.
Something I don't like at all. Chilly and slippery.

A la fin, il faut se résigner à enlever les chaussures.
Au moins, c'est fini pour aujourd'hui.

At the end, no choice than take off shoes.
Finally end of the hike for today.

Rando 北二段: 3ème jour (Taïwan)

5:30AM: on quitte le camp pour le sommet de 無明山.
Dure journée en perspective!

5:30AM: we leave the camp to the peak of 無明山.
A hard day ahead!

On suit la l'arête d'abord dans la forêt.

We walk on the ridge first in the forest.

Il y a beaucoup de Indian pipes (水晶蘭)!

Many Indian pipes can be found!

La route devient plus rocheuse au fur et à measure qu'on s'approche des célèbres falaises de 無明斷崖.

The trail becomes more rocky as we come nearer to the famous cliffs of 無明斷崖.

Cela commence à grimper!

Starting to climb steep!

9:30AM: on arrive au sommet ouest de 無明西峰.

9:30AM: reaching the west peak of 無明西峰.

Le fameux rocher vertical de 3m.
Pas facile du tout à négocier.

The famous 3m high vertical rock.
Not easy at all to get the its top.

11AM: pause casse-croûte. On a marché 5 heures déjà.

11AM: lunch break. We have been climbing for 5 hrs.

Le très impressionnant sommet de 無明山 et ses célèbres falaises qu'on doit traverser maintenant.
Si près et si loin!

The very impressive peak of 無明山 and its much famed cliffs that we are going to cross now.
So near and so far!

Les choses sérieuses commencent!
Il faut faire très attention à chaque pas.

It is serious business now!
We must be very careful of our steps.

Il ne faut pas avoir la peur de l'altitude, c'est sûr.

Cannot be afraid of heights, for sure.

Heureusement qu'il y a des cordes pour aider.

Mon 65ème sommet de 3000m (百岳)!

On campe plus bas près de la mare de 無明池, dont l'eau est notoirement de couleur café.
Il faut la faire bouillir bien sûr.

We camp a bit lower near the pond of 無明池, notorious for its brown colour water. Need to boil it of course.

Rando 北二段: 2ème jour (Taïwan)

2ème jour 6:30AM, on commence la rando. Facile aujourd'hui.

2nd day 6:30AM: we start the hike. Easy today.

Passage de l'éboulement de 26K: rien de dangereux en fait.

Passing the 26K landslide: nothing dangerous actually.

On se faufile dans la forêt de bambous.

Threading our way through the bamboo forest.

Enfin, on quitte la forêt et on arrive à la prairie!

Finally, leaving the forest for the grasslands!

Le sommet de 鈴鳴山 3272m est en vue!
On l'a fait déjà en 2010.

Here is the peak of 鈴鳴山 3272m!
We climbed it in 2010 already.

Le paysage est magnifique.
Vers le sud, c'est le sommet de 畢祿山 et la chaîne en dents de scie de 鋸齒連峰. 

The scenery is beautiful.
To the south is the peak of 畢祿山 and the jagged ridge of 鋸齒連峰. 

Vers le nord, le sommet pointu au fond est le magnifique 中央尖山 3705m.
Au premier plan tout à droite, c'est 無明山 3451m, qu'on va faire demain.

To the north is the magnificient sharp peak of 中央尖山 3705m.
In front to the right is 無明山 3451m that we are going to climb tomorrow.
