Visite de Provins (Seine-et-Marne, France)

On revient de France, où on a fait une visite de Provins, à 80km de Paris.

We just came back from France, where we visited Provins, 80km from Paris.

C'est une petite ville médiévale du 13ème siècle, classée Patrimoine Mondial de l'Unesco.
Qui dit médiéval dit remparts et donjons bien sûr.

It is a medieval town of the 13th century, on Unesco World Heritage list.
Medieval means fortified walls and donjons of course.

Autour des remparts, la campagne de Champagne typique avec champs jaunes de colza.

Around the walls, typical scenery of yellow colza fields of the Champagne region.

On entre par la Porte Saint-Jean.

We enter by Saint-Jean Gate.

Une maison de style Normand.

A Normandy-style old house.

Il fait chaud et un petit repos est bienvenu en route vers la Haute Ville.

It is very hot and a little break is welcome on the way to Upper Town.

Ah, on voit la Tour César, bâtie pour garder la Ville Haute.

Here is Caesar's Tower, built to protect the Upper Town.

La Collégiale de Saint-Quiriace (une église) est en face.

The Church of Saint-Quiriace is just ahead.

Nathan se prépare (très sérieusement) à quitter le chemin de ronde et aller au plus haut de la Tour.

Nathan preparing (very seriously) to go to the top of the Tower.

Au sommet de la Tour: belles charpentes de bois qui abritent les cloches de la Collégiale de Saint-Quiriace.

At the top of the Tower: beautiful wooden structures guarding the bells of the Church of Saint-Quiriace.

Elles sont si vieilles.
Il est interdit et sans doute dangeureux de toucher aux cloches ou de grimper aux charpentes.

They are so old. It is forbidden and probably dangerous to touch or climb on them.

En descendant, on peut assister à une scénographie (images projetées sur les murs) de la vie d'époque.

Going down, we can view a scenography (images projected on the walls) of the Middle Ages.

On quitte la Tour César et on va lentement vers la Porte de Jouy.

We leave Caesar's Tower and slowly walk to the Gate of Jouy.

Le soleil tape. On se repose le long des remparts.

The sun is so strong. We take a rest near the fortified walls.

On sort par la Porte de Jouy pour longer les remparts cette fois par l'extérieur.

We exit the Gate of Jouy to walk along the walls but this time, on the outside.

On retourne lentement vers la Porte de Saint-Jean.

We slowly go back to the Sain-Jean Gate.

Voilà, on y arrive.
On aurait dû prendre le carosse à cheval pour visiter la ville.

Here we come to the Gate.
We should have tried the horse carriage to visit the town.

La visite se termine par un spectacle de chevalier et princesse. 
Sympa mais sans plus.

The visit ends by a show of knight and princess.
Entertaining but nothing extraordinary.

On quitte Provins sur un beau champs de colza.
A Taïwan, il serait envahi de touristes prenant des selfies!

We leave Provins on a beautiful field of colza.
In Taiwan, il would have been swarming with tourists taking selfies!
