Today, we visited 後慈湖 in Taoyuan, which means "back area" of 慈湖 TziHu.
Reservation and guide are mandatory.
慈湖 is mostly known for the mausoleum of Chiang Kai Shek.
It was a military base before and the back area was opened to public only in 2009.
A shuttle will bring us to Point 1, where we start a loop of 4km, ending at the mausoleum of Chiang Kai Shek, as in CKS international airport. About 2.5 hours in total. And we must follow the group and the guide.
L'entrée du parc de 慈湖 (Point 6), où on attend le bus.Entrance of the park of 慈湖 (Point 6), where we wait for the shuttle.
A group of big cylinder motorcycles was gathering here, as often on holidays.
Departure from Point 1.
We follow the paved road and come to Point 2, the official South entrance of 後慈湖. Control of tickets and headcount.
Point 3: coming to the lake, where CKS used to stroll with his wife Sung MeiLing.
From here, we visit a series of outposts re-converted into exposition galleries.
Here, we can see Sung MeiLing's bed and clothes.
CKS's desk, with an antique telephone.
Sung MeiLing's wedding dress.
After the expos, we head to the exit (Point 5).
The trail becomes more pleasant because amid nature now.
An outpost not restored yet.
Point 5 and end of the visit, at the North Gate.
CKS's mausoleum, with change of guards every hour, I think.
Before, we could go inside, as when the parents visited us in 2004.
Endroit assez spécial.
The cult of CKS was abolished by the current gouvernment of DPP, and the many statues found in schools or gouvernment offices, have been moved to this garden in TziHu.
Quite special place.
