Today, we visited again the mountain village of 清泉, a 1h30 hour drive from home.
We used to go there mostly for its hot springs.
Typical scenery of a mountain village, populated by aboriginals (here, Attayal): spring, suspension bridge, church.
For those interested in Chinese history, the village is also most famous for having been the (forced) residence of Chinese general 張學良 from 1936 to 1947, as ordered by CKS.
To remind the visitor of that, a nice replica of his old residence was built.
Inside is an exposition recounting his life here, through pictures and objects.
This table is said to be the favourite spot in the house, where one can have sunbath and great view.
Because it is quite cold in the mountains, like today.
Not far away, a "forest of the arts" was also created in 2017, to serve as a place for artistic events.
Here, an ancient police dormitory was converted into an expo center.
The place is very nice.
A quite special construction in recycled wood and glass catches the eye, resembling an insect carapace.
It is actually a kind of concert or expo room.
The inside is beautiful and nicely scented of Taiwan cypress, a much prized wood here.
To end the visit and warm up, tourists can have a foot bath in the hot spring pool.
