I unfortunately haven't seen myself this modern version of the Arabian dance from the Tchaikovsky ballet "The Nutcracker" (1892). It is also wonderful. The dancer is Emma Sandall. Awesome elasticity! Like a cat.

In 2005, the ballet company Maurice Bejart came to Taiwan and their star dancer Octavio Stanley danced the famous Boléro, music from Maurice Ravel. Wouah! 15min of pure joy. I can still remember the goose bump when the music and ballet started. 15min non-stop is demanding physically, the dancer seems very tired at the end.

Autumn is coming, slowly. At yesterday hike (麥巴來山 2113m, 7hrs), the forest started to take on green, yellow, red colours. A feast to the eye.

Into the wild, by Sean Penn (2007)
This is a film that I like much, from a true story.
A young top student rejects the suffocating over-consumption society and goes to Alaska. He will eventually starve to death there, but having also been happy and free amid the Nature.
The scenery is beautiful. The spiritual journey is extreme, but also touching.

On y va souvent quand on revient à Paris.
I like strolling at the beautiful Place des Vosges when I am in Paris. This 17th century square is not well-known by the tourists. It is surrounded by red bricks / bluish-grey slate tile buildings, in a rare architectural unity. During the day, the square is occupied by nannies taking out the kids to play in the sandpit, and by some tourists, like us...
Building #6 is the small Museum of French writer Victor Hugo (雨果 / 悲慘世界, 鐘樓怪人), because he lived there for 16 years.
Dieu danseur cosmique (Musée Guimet, Paris, France)
We visited the Guimet Museum in Paris several years ago. It is a wonderful place for those interested in Asian arts. Cliff liked this 11th century beautiful bronze statue of Shiva Nataraja, the Hindu cosmic dancing God. He has 4 arms because he is a God and his right foot is crushing a demon. It is amazing how a statue can convey such grace, fluidity, and force, to a dancing posture.

Today, we went to the expo "Manet to Picasso" at the Museum of Art of Taipei, with many paintings on visit from the Philadelphia Museum of Art. Not bad but not exciting neither.
My favourites: the famous "Blue Eyes" from Modigliani and also Pierre Bonnard, new to me. I like the strong but also smooth colours. I will definitively go and see his other paintings at the Museum of Orsay the next time I go back to Paris.
