Rando à la montagne Chilai sommet sud 奇萊南峰 3358m 南華山 3184m (Jan 2008, Taïwan)

 

Cette rando très fréquentée au sommet sud de la montagne Chilai (奇萊南峰) se fait en 2 jours.
1er jour: 14km jusqu'au chalet. Long mais pas difficile.

This very popular hike to the south peak of Mount Chilai 奇萊南峰 can be done in 2 days.
Day 1: 14km to the hostel. Long but not difficult.

4.5km plus tard, on arrive à une espèce de poste de maintenance de l'EDF Taïwanais, à 2360m (雲海保線所).

4.5km later, we reach a kind of maintenance outpost of the Taiwan Power Company, at 2360m high (雲海保線所).

On y trouve même un chat!

There is even a cat there!

On continue, en parcourant des chemins pas très solides de sable et cailloux. Mais apparemment, ça ne fait pas peur aux aborigènes motocyclistes qui travaillent là-bas!

We continue, on shaky trails of sand and stones. But it apparently does not deter the mountain tribe people on motorcycle who work there!

On arrive ensuite à la belle forêt d'arbres blancs morts.

We then come to the beautiful forest of dead white pine trees.

J'emprunterai bien cette moto pour le reste de la rando mais bon, c'est certainement plus sûr à pied!

I would love to borrow this motocycle for the rest of the hike, but it is certainly safer by foot!

9.5km après, on arrive au chalet de Tianchi (天池山莊), notre gîte de ce soir.

9.5km later, we arrive at the Tianchi hostel (天池山莊), our home of tonight.

On va voir le monument 光被八表 qui commémore la construction des lignes électriques de cette région.
Le haut a disparu, frappé par la foudre! Il a été réparé depuis.

We go to the monument 光被八表 which celebrates the contruction of power lines in this region.
The top is missing due to a lightning strike! It has been re-built since.

2ème jour au petit matin: on va au sommet de 南華山 3184m voir le lever du soleil.
Très beau mais qu'est-ce qu'il caillait!

Day 2 early morning: we go to the peak of 南華山 3184m to see sunrise.
Beautiful scenery but it is so freezing!

Voilà, il gelait vraiment!

A last slope and we are on top of the south peak of Chilai 奇萊南峰 3358m!

On peut voir le sommet Chilai 奇萊主峰 3560m et la ligne de falaises 卡羅樓斷崖 qui le relie au sommet sud.  J'ai traversé cette ligne en 1994. Pas si dangereux que ça.

We can see the main Chilai peak 奇萊主峰 3560m and the line of cliffs 卡羅樓斷崖  which connects to the south peak.
I climbed this line in 1994. Not so dangerous.
Such a nice hike for a week-end!
